i rebuilt a machine today to hold beta 2 and having started from a blank

machine i've created a broken installation. everything works fine except

IIS. the w3svc service fails to start and hangs in such a way that it can

neither be started nor stopped



i'm baffled as to why this is happening as i'm unaware of anything i am

doing differently from the previous installations I have done.

fwiw, this fails to resolve the problem: uninstall iis, reboot, reinstall

iis, reboot.



i'm going to format it and try again tomorrow, but if anyone has any

suggestions or has seen this before I'd appreciate a nod because it might

save me the time of rebuilding the machine
