Message #1 by <wrox@d...> on Mon, 10 Sep 2001 21:02:31 +0100

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good Hosting site for aspx - everywhere I have

tried only seem to have development areas which are no good to me? I

also need SQL 2000 or 7 access via enterprise manager

Thanks

David

I recently joined http://www.highspeedweb.net after spending too many months

with the worst hosting (company in general) I have ever come across -

www.sitehosting.net / www.affinity.com.

I am very happy with highspeedweb.net ($99/year hosting includes, win2k,

.net beta1, sql7/2000). Personal service, quick and knowledgeable support,

all in all a great place. I was with them for the last few months.

One word of caution: I have two domains, a .com and .net one and wanted both

of them to work but they asked for a some $40 charge to add the .net domain.

They were very nice however and did if for free as I was really stunned by

this.

They are a great company so I am happy to 'advertise' them.

Greg

http://www.innerhost.com has Beta 2 set up (for development purposes...) and

a decent price range with sql 2000 connectivity. They also have front page

extensions installed so you can connect via interdev, however some people

feel this is a security risk. If you're not planning on doing anything

mission critical such as online credit card transactions, give them a

looksee and let me know what you think. I've been using their shared

services for over 2 years now and haven't had any complaints worth losing

sleep over. I haven't tried developing .net apps on their servers yet, but I

know that they do support it to varying degrees; details on their site.

Hi,

That is exactly what I am looking for as a client asked me to do a

development. They may look for different options fit with their

requirements including a budget. What if they prefer a low-price ASPX/ASP

hosting with SQL Server 7 for less than $40.00. If you know any hosting

provider than just OrcsWeb, let me know.

Thanks,

Thanks for all the input on hosting - I ended up going to ORCS as they

seemed to be the only ones that gave a proper IP most of the other

companies only offer a host header at this stage.

I must say you guys where right their customer service is by far one of

the best I have encountered for a long time.

David
