aspx thread: ASP.NET Go Live License...

One of the things that we did in Beta2 was come up with a relatively new

concept -- which was a license for customers to go live with production

applications on the ASP.NET Beta2 bits.

I call it "relatively new" in that we typically have licenses which

specifically prevent customers from going live on beta bits -- but our

confidence in the quality of the ASP.NET Beta2 bits (and frankly the

huge customer demand for them) encouraged us to try out this concept. So

far, we've heard really positive results from thousands of customers

that have taken advantage of it -- and it has proven extremely valuable

for us to measure the reliability people have observed.

One of the other things we are also hoping to use the go live license

program for is to track the number of companies that are actually

engaged in production applications with the ASP.NET beta. Specifically,

it helps us identify how we are doing in terms of adoption (number of

unique people actively using it), and lets us know overall how we are

doing. It also comes in handy when asking for resources to do

additional adoption efforts like IBuySpy, etc.

If you are actively using ASP.NET, we'd like to encourage you to sign up

for the ASP.NET Go Live license by visiting the following URL:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/nextgen/beta.asp#golive

Note that under the terms of the beta license, you technically need to

sign the license before you actually deploy any live applications.

However, we'd also be interested in hearing from people who haven't

reached this stage yet -- but are planning to go live with an

application at some point in the future.

The registration process itself takes only about 30 seconds to complete

(simply register your name online, then select the "ASP.NET Go Live

License" menu item under the "License" menu once you are logged). It is

totally free, and your name and company details are kept completely

confidential.

We really appreciate all of your enthusiasm about ASP.NET. It is

tremendously exciting to see so many people actively using it even while

in its Beta stage. We can't wait to see the reaction when we release

the final version this fall. :-)

Thanks again,

ASP.NET Team
