I have a question about the new final release of the asp.net framework. I

am currently using beta 2 of Visual Studios. I have downloaded the final

release for asp.net SDK, but I have not installed it yet. What I am

wondering is if I install it, am I going to have to use notepad to develop

web apps, or can I still use the Visual Studio.Net dev environment with

the new .Net framework installed?

What is the best (free) tool to use for developing asp.net apps. Buying

the new VS.Net development environment is currently out of the question

for me right now. Please give me some feedback as to what tools other

developers like to use.

Thank you,

I prefer EditPlus together with the debug program bundled with the SDK

(DbgCLR.exe) even thou I have vs.net I almost never use it. It can be good

some time for learning but you really don't need it.

Stewart,

From what I have heard you can not use vs beta 2 with release 1 of .net.

I have seen some .net development environments. I am sure some one else will

step up with a environemt. You do have to get rid of beta2 though release 1

runs much quicker. I heard they removed tons of debug code alone from it.
