I read an article on msdn.microsoft.com that we cannot have more than one 

replaceable symbols.

Keeping that in mind, I created the query with an addiotional column 

called qrystr which returns the string in the required format. I used that 

column for linking the DataNavigateUrlField and  

DataNavigateUrlFormatString. Hope this solution works for you too.
