Hi there,
I just installed Microsoft.NET Framework V1.0.3705, available from
www.asp.net site,
into my new machine (Win2K Pro with IIS 5.0). As I do not have Visual
Studio.NET in my
machine, I find it very difficuilty even in deploying a small application.
Now the Codebehind concept will not work. And the most usefull tool
which creates the
proxy for a web service, Wsdl.exe has not come with the framework.
Some of the tools shipped with Microsoft.NET Framework V1.0.3705 are
aspnet_regiis.exe,
aspnet_state.exe,aspnet_wp.exe,CasPol.exe,ConfigWizards.exe,csc.exe,cvtres.e
xe,IEExec.exe,
ilasm.exe,InstallUtil.exe,jsc.exe,ngen.exe,RegAsm.exe,RegSvcs.exe,vbc.exe.
Now my question is, Is it a must to have VS.NET installed or are there
any alternatives to
these particular issues? Or are there any methods so that only by using the
tools above,
we can generate a proxy class?
Any help highly appreciated,
Thanx in advance,
HegdeS.

Hi Hegdes,
My might find the new application WEB MATRIX very useful.
You can download it from www.ASP.NET
I haven't tried it, but it looks very simmilar to VS.NET, but only for
asp.net

ASP.NET have recently made available the Web Matrix development environment
for free.
http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/default.aspx?tabindex=4&tabid=46
There is also a free Wrox book for download at
http://www.asp.net/Tools/redir.aspx?path=webmatrixbook
