aspx thread: Re: Does .NET Framework comes along with Crystal Report engine

Sorry for the delay; I'm just catching up on these.

I have discovered that Crystal Reports has a redistribution package
available for CR.NET; however, I believe you have to acquire a full
license for CR 9 to be able to use it. Since I have CR 9, I'm going to
try it out, so if anyone is still interested, I'll report my findings
(naturally sometime near the end of March after I find out that someone
actually replied).

Thanks for the info,
But i tried installing my application on a server with Just .NET
Framework
(Version 1.1)
not Visual studio...and it worked fine...
so my question is.....is .NET Framework comes integrated with the
reports
engine, which
is needed to run Crystal Reports ?

Hope i am clear

I do not believe it comes with the engine. For CR.NET to work I had to
install Visual.NET on the server. I have been looking for another way to do
this, but have came up empty.

I have crystal version 9 and apparently there are some additional
components that you need to redistribute
Crystal.net I can look into it further we plan to implement crystal.net

I just tried the redistributable package and it appears that it requires
a product key that I do not possess. My guess is that I need to upgrade
to either Developer or Advanced to be able to use the package.

From what I can tell crystal should be available in the Dot Net Enterprise addition. As advertised on
their site. Crystal 9 does add a few more features they can be viewed at the link below. Hope it helps.

Charles,

I know that you can install VS.NET onto the server selecting only
CR.NET; however, this is not necessary the best solution because of the
overhead as well as the licensing issues involved. Thus, I believe that
some, such as myself, want to avoid putting VS.NET on the server.

Another option to consider is to create an installation package (MSI)
for a web application that uses CR.NET and include the CR.NET merge
modules within it. There is some documentation regarding this in the
MSDN Library.
