aspx_beginners thread: .net on Windows ME?

Message #1 by "Demitrius Lopez" <iam@d...> on Wed, 18 Apr 2001 16:38:20
Hi,

Will the .net framework function on Windows ME using Personal Web Server

4.0? I've installed the work-around for PWS and it operates fine. But, so

far, .net is not playing.

Is there some trick to this, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 2000?

Best,

Beta 1 will only work on Windows 2000 (Professional and Server) running on

IIS 5.0.

Future releases (maybe even Beta 2?) will work on Windows 9x.

Macelo,

At the ASP.Net Faq's page: (http://www.asp.net/faq.aspx)

It says:

"Does ASP.NET run on Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows Me?

No. You can certainly use one of these platforms as your development

machine, but your ASP.NET application must run on a Web server, either

Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0, with IIS installed."

Demitrius's troubles with Win Me, lead me to believe the .Net Faq.

The MSDN download site does say something about the SDK working on Win Me

and 98, but that might be just some of the SDK tools. I can't really say

because I haven't used anything other than W2k for a while.

If I made a blunder (I apoligize), and I am sure I will soon be corrected by

about 200 or so messages, but I think I called this correctly...except that

NT 4.0 can also be used.
