aspx_beginners thread: will iis ship with windows xp home version?

Message #1 by "Andrew Wrigley" <awrigley@y...> on Fri, 21 Sep 2001 14:42:01
I am considering upgrading from win me to win xp so that I can test

asp.net pages, as well as plain asp pages.

Will the cheaper home version include iis? Or do I have to purchase the

professional version? I cant find any information on this by searching

the microsoft site. Any tips for searching for this info would be

appreciated and akin to teaching a man to fish rather than giving him a

fish to eat.

TIA

>From what I've read no, the home version won't have IIS installed.

Only Pro version will. If you think about, most normal home users don't

need

IIS and all the temptations that go along with virus writers using VBS,

etc...Home users are typically NOT power users and have no need for VBS or

JS files or the exe's to be there.
