I asked this once before but do not believe I was clear so let me please 
try again.

I need to locate a value in a drop down list. For instance if I have a 
dropdown that is states I would need to find where "NY" is in that list. I 
need to do this so I can then set the selected Item in the list and have 
it display the appropriate text.
