The question really is that the beginning asp.net w/vb.net assumes no
installation of vs.net and therefore tells to download .net/asp.net etc.
Big concern:
I have a full install of vs.net pro. I hope the book exercises, using
browser addresses, will work, using WROX's requirement of writing in
notepad.exe, but "finding" my existing installation of vs.net pro. I
would have assumed that we would always use the IDE that we have purchased
to learn these languages. The vb.net book does.
The class browser example will not run from the example in ch 2, nor on
the gotdotnet website. I do not have the samples directory mentioned on
the
site and there does not seem to be a dl link except for getting the
entire .net framework.
What do I need/where do I download these samples mentioned in ch2 (p60)?
Relatedly, the punctual.aspx exercise wouldn't run either, after I created
the necessary virtual web site under Default Web Site, with an alias to my
local c: drive to point to my content for the exercise.
Since that time, my webmaster blew IIS off the server (that's another
story) and intends to reinstall it. I also think that will cause a
problem with my vs.net pro installation, since the good book says that the
install of vs.net automatically "configures" iis to use the .aspx
extension and the aspnet...dll.
Any ideas?
