aspx_beginners thread: Can anyone recommend a good beginner book?

I'm giving up on the Wrox' Beginning ASP.NET book. The beta code in the
book is just so different from the workable code, and as the eratta offers
no explanation of the proper code, I'm not learning anything.
I'm completely new to ASP.NET. I have taken first-year computer science
classes, so I have an understanding of programming concepts and have
worked with Java for a while. I like the Wrox book in terms of writing
style and pace...I just need a book that uses real code.

Darrel,
About 25% of the people I see in here have the exact same problem, the only
solution is to purchase the up to date version of the book.(This sweeping
statement included me at first !)
Message to Wrox, although this means people bying twice as many books, it is
ruining your reputation, don't sell old stock, remainder them and save us
all a lot of trouble !!!!!!
Simon

Message for Darrel,
There is another book that you could use. It has an interactive training
suite that comes with it. I find it a little better than Beginning ASP.Net
by WROX (Sorry Wrox your's is great and got me off the ground, but the
interactice CD-Rom is great)
Its published by DIETEL and is called something like Introducing ASP.NET and
C#. Its quite expensive though.
