aspx_beginners thread: Page cannot be displayed

I have purchased "Beginning ASP.NET 1.0 with Visual Basic .NET" for the
sole reason of the extensive opening chapter on installing IIS and
ASP.NET. However, after following the directions given and even
reinstalling the Framework I either get a blank page in the browser or a
screen full of messages (Not XML, See Below)
VB.NET programs work GREAT. C# .NET works GREAT. Plain HTML and Plain ASP
work GREAT on the Localhost. ASP.NET USED to work on this machine when I
had VS.NET Beta 2 running. I have since wiped the hard disk and
reinstalled. I have been struggling for 3 days to get the simplest
ASP.NET screen with a single label on it to run and display in IE 6.0 on
an XP Pro system.
If someone would please help it would be much appreciated.
Here is that wonderous display I get:
gASPNET\/LM/W3SVC/1/Root/BegASPNET Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap,
image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/vnd.ms-

I had the same problem. Check some of the messages near the beginning
of this forum. The suggestions solved my problem. I can't remember
exactly what is was - but it worked.
Regards
