aspx_beginners thread: Code editor choices for asp.net ?

I'm looking for a good non-Visual Studio code editor for .net.
Ideally, (because I hate typing) this editor would have drag and drop
abilities for Classes or Web Controls, etc.., without attaching a lot of
un-necessary code. Much in the same way that Homesite handles HTML or CFM
tag drag and drop.
Has anyone seen a good editor for VB.Net code that they could point me
to? I'm an advanced asp web developer...
Thanks

Dreamweaver MX has built in .NET capabilities, not full support but I
heard they are planning on building in more .NET support for the next
release. Web Matrix is decent as well and is free.

I'm not positive but from what I've been told homesite (allair) has
been acquired by macromedia and the new macromedia dreamweaver mx is
supposed to handle cold fusion and .net both. I've seen a few
demonstrations and it looks nice but they where using cold fusion
during the demos. I noticed an option for .net and they said it
handled it but I didn't actually see how it worked with .net.

Youn know, the tool I'm looking for doesn't have to be a homesite related
product. I just liked the UI in homesite that allows for code drag and
drop and am hoping to find something along those lines. Also, it would
be great if this editor had built in Class Browsing capabilities...

Does it have to be non Microsoft as well?
Microsoft do a great .net editor free who's name escapes me....think
...think no can't remember. However I started to learn on it before
getting visual studio and it was OK perhaps someone on the list will
remember its name.
Have a scoot around the Microsoft site it'll probably be listed in their
downloads.

No it doesn't have to be non-Microsoft. I just don't like all of the
extra code that the earlier versions of Visual Studio included when
adding an object or code snippet to a page.
I think the Microsoft editor you're talking about, (as mentioned by
someone earlier), is called Web Matrix. I just downloaded it from the
Microsoft sponsored site, www.asp.net, and will see how it works. If
anyone has other ideas please post here. Thanks...

Web Matrix that was the one.
I know what you're saying about Visual Studio. When I was starting to
learn the last thing I needed just as I thought I understood all the
page elements was a program chucking loads more at me.
Also you kinda have to work with a code behind file in VS.net which as a
starter is another sub tier that you really could do without. Having
said that off course now I wouldn't work any other way. Whilst initially
it seemed a bit of a drag once I got the feel for it I fell in love with
code behind.
Developing across multi tiers with VS.Net is easy.
IMHO VS.Net is the most superb development environment the world has
ever known. I know people don't say it much but well done Microsoft.
