I'm a web developer just starting to learn ASP.net. Can anyone help me
through the first steps. I know I have to upgrade my OS to either an XP
pro or 2000 professional/server. But which should I choose? Is there any
advantages or disadvantages among them? Aside from the OS, what else do I
need to start? (note: I intend to learn and use C# with ASP.net). Can you
also educate me regarding the "service pack" that I need? I honestly don't
know much about that? Thanks a lot!

Windows 2000 because it's the high end corporate version. Make sure you
have all critical updates and iis up and running. With iis running,
install the .net framework. Then install your tool of choice -- vs.net,
webmatrix or another and hopefully everything will run ok.
