Thanks, I didn't know about that feature and will look into it. This Access
database is a nightmare, so I want to do it as soon as possible!!
Thanks again,
Thea

You may want to add a database book to that set. There are a few
features of sql server you will want to take advantage of. For example
you can bump the seed value of a identity column to leave a gap between
your old data and the new data. If you have time write stored procedures
to handle your inserts so you can return the @@identity right away. I
am involved in a similar project here and they were amazed when I showed
them how to avoid the "get the identity column and pray" trap. They
have been on access database since they started back in the BBS days so
you can imagine how old the data and the programming logic is.
IMHO - Just make sure you get the latest edition of any books, make sure
it says release 1 or something to that effect. Then you can download
the code base and any erraticca from the web site.
So when are you having the wake!! I just love putting Access to death
parties!!

Hi, All
I am working for an ISP and in about 2 weeks time I have to start
rewriting our whole web system. How it works is that we have branches
all over the country that sign clients on through the web. We used to be
on an Access database, but are moving to SQL Server. (At last!!) I have
to pass the data to a MySql database on Linux where they actually
connect the dialups, etc. I am going to use ASP.Net to do it. Does
anyone have suggestions for a book that may come in handy? I saw a new
one from Wrox now....ASP.NET Distributed Data Applications. Any other
ones or does someone know more about this book?
Thank you!!
Thea
