I removed all but the last folder that is in there and all seems to be
working now. Thanks for your help Rémy.

Thanks for the reply, I checked the folder as you said and I have three
subfolders in there right now. The one with the latest dates for all the
smartnav.js and smartnavie.js is called 1_0_3705_288. The dates on these
files are 3/20/2002. I do still have a folder called 1_0_3705_0 that has
the older file dates as you mentioned. T tried removing that folder and
enabling the smartnav to see if it works, and I still got the same error. I
thought it should pick up the latest version when the solution is rebuilt.
Any other ideas on why this would be bailing?

Hello David,

According to Microsoft, the first version of smartnav is bugged.
Microsoft has fixed it but the link to download it is mysteriously down.
to check wich version you have go into your wwwroot folder.
aspnet_client\system_web\
In system web you've got a folder who's name depend of the dotnet version
you've installed.
In this folder there're 2 files: Smartnav.js and SmartNavIE5.js
if the files are from the 11/21/2001 you've got the bugged version.
the right version is from the 1/16/2002.
