Learning C# in a now very competitive IT industry would certainly be an
asset. It will also intoduce to advanced concepts like serialization and
reflection, to name just a few. While the Professional C# (Wrox) book is
excellent, and given that you are reltively new to programming, the
Beginning C# book (Wrox) by karli Watson is a book I would still swear
by and give it my highest recommendation.
Good luck.
