Hello and welcome to the discussion list for 'Expert One-on-One VB.NET
Business Objects'.
I have been working on this book or at least the ideas behind this book
since I got access to the first alpha build of the .NET Framework. I am
very excited to have completed the book, which illustrates much of what
I learned during my research over that time.
The book itself is just the beginning of course. Just like the VB5/VB6
Business Objects and VB6 Distributed Objects books, this book is
primarily a set of ideas and concepts that you can adapt to suit your
own particular needs.
That said, this book does include a reasonably functional code framework
that supports the creation of OLTP business applications using object
oriented techniques. Due to the architecture and the way the framework
is built, these applications work well in 1, 2 or n-tier physical
configurations.
I am very happy that Wrox Press has provided this discussion list for
the book. As I said, the book is just the beginning - from there I hope
that we can build and extend the ideas, improving on them through
discussion.
For more information on the book please go to

Also, on my web site you'll find information about the VB6 Business
Objects and Distributed Objects books. Many of the articles dealing with
the theory of distributed applications remain just as valid in .NET as
they did in COM, though obviously the implementation is different in
.NET.
I look forward to good discussions on this list - thank you!
