going_live thread: Moving a web app into production

Message #1 by cathyp@l... on Wed, 23 Oct 2002 19:52:43
I have created a web application that will allow users to view a series
of Crystal Reports on our company intranet. It runs like a charm on my
machine. How do I migrate this application to the production web server?
I will be running on what I am told is a subweb, and cannot just copy the
files over to the web server. (This is my first web application).
I am told that if I just copy the files this will not make the global.asa
behave correctly.
I am told that I must use FrontPage to migrate my InterDev-developed
application because of the global.asa, since I will be placing my
application on a subweb http://supportweb/reports/heat (Heat is our
problem-tracking software and the crystal reports will give managers an
opportunity to follow-up on problems and their resolutions).
This just seems very strange to me. Are we just missing a piece of
information? Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks for all help!
Cathy
