Try the following things (one at a time)
1) Update VIA inf files fron VIA web Site
2) Check your motherboard BIOS settings if htere are choises for the
emulation of the sound card (soundblaster emulation would be great). Also
check for settings at half-full duplex, or try enabling or disabling PNP
operating system (if such an option exists)
3) Try new drivers for Windows 2000 and if you can't find them try for
Windows NT.
Last from the device manager of Windows 2000 try enabling or disabling
automatic configurations or even change between the available ones.
