This is going to seem like a really dumb question.

I want to make a page link to another domain but do not want the address
line to show the user that they are in a different domain. This is just so
that I can make use of facilities provided by domain_b.

So in domain_a I have a page which says
a href=http://www.domainb.co.uk/mynewpage>Click here/a>

When I click on the link the address bar changes to say domainb.

(Removed open "<" so code can be read and not translated)
