why don't u try to set the default.asp in the IIS 4.0 MMC. Selecting the 
website that u've created, on right clicking that go to properties a new 
window will open. From the Document tab u'll see default.htm is set as ur 
first page that will be executed on starting of the web. change it to 
default.asp.
