I had already tried your first suggestion and did not work. However, it is 
sorted now. As I tried to open a CSS page, V. Interdev. prompted to insert 
the MS Office 2000 disk in order to load some extra component. After this 
it is all sorted. I know have distinct colours on my editor windos as well 
as Design, Source and Quick View tabs, which I did not have before. Thanks 
anyway.

Thank you for your help with the question on line numbers too. God! was I 
blind.
