> HI again - just wanted to let people know I solved my own problem. For
the record, in case anyone else has had this problem, here is what I
learned:
If you want to change permissions in Internet Services Manager for a web
project, you must rightclick on the folder represented on the LEFT side of
the screen - this is the console. After that, changing permissions in the
properties window is self-explanatory. BUT when you finish, you must pay
attention and make sure you click OK twice for both screens you had to
open in order to set the permsissions (you know how those Windows boxes
open on top of each other?)If you just click the second screen and forget
the first, the changes don't take effect.
Anyhoo, this seemed to be the solution to my problems. Thanks for reading!

Hi all - I have started an interdev project and everything went along
s> moothly until I tried to view the first ASP page of the project - I got
a
4> 03 error, so I went to the folder for the directory in Internet
Services
M> anager, and changed permissions to allow scripts and executables.
I> 'm still not sure if this is correct, because while I was playing
around
w> ith the asp permissions problem, I must have altered something else -
b> ecause now I can't open my current project at all.
> I get the following message in a Microsoft Development Environment alert
b> ox:
"> Unable to open web project, the web server does not appear to have any
a> uthentication methods enabled. The server has asked for user
a> uthentication but did not send a WWW-Authentication header"
I> 'm not sure how to fix the problem without causing even more chaos!
W> here should I start? What did I mess up while trying to fix the other

p> ermissions unless I'm sure that's the correct way.
