My first impression is quite favorable for this book, written by 2 BEA
employees. It is a very good, practical and easy to read book on J2EE. The
book requires java2 with JNDI, a Bea weblogic v5.1 with at least sp5,
Oracle 8i on win NT 4.0. The book does not cover the installation and
configuration of weblogic and if you want to use it on win9x, you better
try to install weblogic first before order the book.
The book consists of 12 chapters, the first 2 are introductory without
code examples. The code examples in the last 3 chapters require a setup of
3 computers at least.
If you have already studied the online J2EE code examples including the
blueprints, this book will be easy to read and will strengthen your
knowledge in J2EE, considering that Bea WEBLOGIC is one of the major java
app servers ( the other is Ibm WEBSPHERE ).
It is, in a way, a better book than pro_jsp, J2EE ed.
