there is a free JDBC-ODBC driver with the sun download for jdbc. It's called
com.sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver

There's a MySQL one at the site and available from others. to find others
including PostgreSQL and others do a search under JDBC driver in google.
