Sorry, I slightly misread your question concerning the 'directory' part. No
you can't do this in JavaScript and yes I did mean 'Java'. As I said it
depends on the scenario, is this from a web page or a stand alone JavaScript
file? It also depends on the machines you are targeting. On Windows NT+ then
it's straight-forward and can be probably be done with components available
on the machine unless you are in a web page when it will require the user to
allow unsafe ActiveX to run.
Let me know the situation and I'll post a couple of scripts to effect this.
