I actually realized my error when I came back to the project a few days 
later; I was executing on the test server, which happened to have a copy 
of Access installed. Basically, the problem is moot since the users will 
be triggering it on a remote server, which requires server scripting 
anyway. In any case, yes, I was running the asp page correctly, and it 
just won't work from that container.  Running the html version from either 
the application path or from a copied version anywhere on the machine 
works without a problem.
