have overcome the problem. It turned out that the JDBC realm I am using
was not initialising as it couldn't contact the server. The server was
on another machine. Strangely this did not bring up any errors just
caused a stall, probably as a response was waited for.

Did you install tomcat 4.1.12 with the java 1.4 without problem I

I would seriously appreciate help, I have been developing with Tomcat
4.1.12 successfully for months on Windows XP Pro, suddenly after a
