Please help !

I took on a Internet/Intranet project which involve security.
The technology I am looking at is ADSI with LDAP and JNDI with LDAP.
I understand LDAP completely and able to search & browse Active Directory.
but I have a few issue I want to ask.

1. How can the webServer look at the folder or files credentail (e.g NT
permission, NDS) before distributed to the client ?

2. It there any other technology to handle security in similar way ?
