Hi Amit
Thanks for a quick reply. So, you faced this problem because
of some *problem* with the code. In our case we have
optimised it to the maximum (that's what we feel).
We are still working on some ideas. We have instealled
Tomcat4 and the performance and the memory usage seems to
have improved substantially. The other thing could be
installing JDK1.4. One thing I am really puzzled about is
that why is the same thing not happening in 2000Server? The
code seems to work perfect in 2000Server.
I shall let you know in case I get to the root of the
problem.
Regards
Manish

Subject: [pro_jsp] Re: Tomcat Memory Problem (Urgent)
Hi Amit
I am facing the same problem of excessive memory usage by
Tomcat3.2.1
(JDK1.3) on NT. As I keep on accessing the servlets on NT
the memory usage
keep on increasing and at a point in time it takes up all
the memory
resulting in system hang. However, this does not happen in
2000Server. The
memory usage does shoots up but it comes down very
frequently. Does this
means that "garbage collection" is taking place successfully
in 2000Server
and not in NT?
I am using Tomcat3.2.1 standalone. Do I have to use Tomcat
clubbed with
Apache?
You faced this problem some time back and may have some
solution/ideas
regarding why is it happening only in NT.
Any pointers, suggestions are appreciated.
Regards
Manish
