The company's newly improved Zend IDE 2.0, currently in beta testing and
scheduled for release later this quarter, includes enhanced debugging
capabilities =96 call-stack access, code completion for both PHP and HTML,
and remote file access by FTP allowing developers transparent access to
files on the server instead of through local copies. It features the new
Zend Debugger 2.0, a text-based debugger that can be easily embedded in any
extensible PHP development environment . "Our decision to develop our
stand-alone debugger was made in response to users' requirements for a PHP
debugger that can be transparently linked to other development
environments," said Zeev Suraski, a key developer of PHP, and Zend's
co-founder and CTO. "It presents an ideal solution for PHP-based
development, and is the only commercially-supported PHP debugger, backed by
Zend's in-depth knowledge and experience with PHP." The upgrade has many
other enhancements, including local debugging, new project management
capabilities and more. A revamped GUI rounds out the improvements in this
major product upgrade. =09
"Lack of code completion or parameter checking for PHP, as well as limited
project management features were perceived as drawbacks to earlier versions
of the Zend IDE," commented Eetay Natan, Zend's Director of Research and
Development. "The Zend IDE 2.0 is now a powerful development environment
for PHP developers," Natan concluded.
