anyone who contributes answers to this list is volunteering any time they
have for helping people who post questions.  Most of us are at work.  If
someone needs help, though the error and the code and all that may be
completely obvious to the poster, the people who read these letters might
not have the time to write up a script or cut n' paste code to debug or see
the actual error messages.

If someone needs help and they post clearly what the situation is, what the
code is, what the errors are, etc... it makes it a lot easier for others to
recognize what the problem is without cutting and pasting php code from an
email message into a web script and running it to debug it.

I apologize if I seem pretty arrogant by this, that's not my intention.  I
used this list to learn PHP, and now I'm trying to do my best to help
others.  Work's busy, you all know that, and sometimes the difference
between my being able to help someone or not is whether it takes any time to
figure out what exactly their problem is.  If it takes me longer than 5
minutes, I can't do it, because work's too busy.

I'm of the impression that the situation is similar for most other people.
