Well, I sort of have my problem fixed.

I used an rpm of apache and compiled PHP as a DSO and I work ok now.

I am not sure if the problem was with PHP as a static load or something that
was compiled into the apache rpm but not into my binary.

oh well... gonna have to dig some more to find out.

Atleast I can query the as/400 for information from PHP now.
