pro_php thread: Junk mail

Message #1 by "Sokun, Chorn" <sokunxp@g...> on Tue, 4 Dec 2001 18:52:03 +0700
I didn't look into it too much, but I thought that hotmail's "high" setting
would prevent any email getting to your inbox if the sender wasn't in your
hotmail address book. *shrug*

You're saying you have to put a header in your email to say it ISN'T junk
mail for hotmail? Yeah, I'm sure that is a SMTP standard. What would keep
junk mail people from putting that in their header?

I think hotmail keeps a default database of domains then send advertisements
and the user can add additional people to it.

So, either the person accidentally did it or is there any chance that domain
you are emailing from has an open relay or did at one time that allowed
others to send email off it? Ever hacked and that done? Etc.
