pro_php thread: Re: Why is PHP Better?

Good point. Actually, if Richard had phrased his question better and we'd
given him some useful comments, it would have been quite a smart move.

The problem is, to get a proper balanced answer you'd need to be talking to
programmers who use (or have used) both ASP and PHP quite a lot. As for me,
I've never actually been in a position where PHP didn't do what I needed.
I've also never been told by an employer that I had to use ASP.

So, I've used PHP for connecting to the old MySQL database, churning out
some dynamically created web pages etc. etc. At the other end of the scale
I've used PHP to splice the binary firmware files from a hard drive (yes I
realise there are probably better suited languages). My point is that for
the time investment involved in learning PHP the flexibility gained is well
worth it.

PS - Richard, good luck with the dissertation - get a good spell checker.

Whoa....since when did this become a bashing forum?
Back off boys, it was a simple question from someone that doesnt know these
two languages.
