It's a little known fact, but AOL's official name is now "AOL". It used to be America Online, but
once they opened up in Japan, France, and Germany, they decided to change the name to AOL. The
official name of 3M is now "3M", no longer is it Minnesota Mining, Melting, and Manufacturing. When
they started making things like tape, they no longer felt their old name was appropriate. When
Nissan first started selling to the American market they called themselves Datsun out of fear that
too many war veterans remembered Nissan guns as the ones that killed their friends - but the passage
of time and the dimming of war memories allowed Nissan to go back to using its own, real name.

In the same vein, I think the official name of PHP should be "PHP." When the name of a company or a
scripting language outlives its usefulness, it should be dropped, and the nearest logo that
maintains brand-recognition should be adopted.
