Ah, well it is that whole "hacker jargon" mentality from the 70s and 80s.
They like they sort of play on words, like GNU: Gnu is Nut Unix
PHP: Php Hypertext Preprocessor
Only time I got aggravated was when a writer called it Perl Hypertext
Preprocessor.
