I've successfully used the ntsvc.ocx ActiveX control from Microsoft to write
NT services in VB6.

Check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/periodic/period98/VB98J1.HTM for
more info.

I can't find the download site on Microsoft for the control.  If you want, I
can email you the control and a sample VB project.
