While I have never created a grid in VB5 I am told the best in VB5 is
the ListView.  In VB6 this was surpassed by the new DataGrid and
Hierarchical Flexgrid.

Intrinsic VB grids are not powerful enough, and I have tried Apex True
DBGrid Pro 5 but find it not programmer friendly - it's difficult to

what you want and then how to do it.
