Hi 
the splash screen of vb will have the words SP3 etc in the title, if any
service paks have been installed.
If this does'nt appear it's a good chance that no service paks have been
installed.

What version of MDAC have you installed? version 2.5 comes office 2000.

I've had this problem in the past and the result was that I had'nt installed
DCOM on the machine.

Hi,

I have a piece of code which is working fine in one machine without any 
error, but when i copied the same code  to another machine and tried to 
run from that machine it is giving an error message "ActiveX Component 
can't create object". I suspect whether any service pack needs to be 
installed in that machine? Both the machines have VB 5.0 installed.

One more thing, is there any way to find out whether any VB service pack 
has been installed in a particular machine ?

can anyone please clarify it.
