Ary,
Exactly what are you connecting to at port 30000?
If you are not connecting to another VB program you
wrote, you must follow the internet standard of
negotiation and all that other good stuff. These
standards are generally called RFC's.
For example, if you open a telnet connection at port
23, you must send and receive negotiation characters
where you determine exactly what type of text emulation
you are using (vt100, ansi, etc). Telnet negotiation
uses a lot of chr$(250-255) [non visible characters]
to do this.
Whatever you are connecting to at port 30000 may
be waiting for a certain control character or
string of control characters to initiate a session.
You can find RFC's at some goverment and university
sites. Here is one site that contains a lot (but
not all) the RFC's out there:
http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/Services/rfc/rfc-text/
If you need more specific assistance with your problem,
please feel free to post again. If not then...
Good Luck and Happy reading!
