Richard,
I have never really done anything with the performance monitor,
but here is a blind guess to your problem:
I think VB has the ability to read the event log in NT. If
I remember correctly I think you get get the performance monitor
to generate an event in this log when a certain threshhold is
met. Perhaps you can have VB read this log entry to get
the information that you need.

I've set up some alerts in NT Performance Monitor that run an .exe if an
alert occurrs. The .exe sends out an email warning that there is a problem.
Question is, can the .exe extract information from Performance Monitor eg
which alert was triggered.
