the test project declared the control object variable as say sgrid4 and 
referenced it as sgrid in the code.  it wasnt a bug with the control itself, 
but the test project of it.

there were a couple of snags, but that was the one that stumped me for a few 
minutes.

but again, i was impressed by it and will definitely use it.
