I am not sure what issues you are having. I have an MTS component that
does calls to the database that works beautifully. It is called like
any other Dll. The only difference between a Dll and an MTS Dll is MTS
handles security and smoothes the memory flow. Why do you need DCom?
What operating system are you trying to work on (I am guessing NT
because that is the only System with MTS; Winn 2000 is called Com+).
What is the physical setup of your program (client\server, thin client,
etc.)?

Subject: [pro_vb] VB/DCOM/MTS/Progress Bar - Help needed
Hi
How do I create user interactive application using
MTS/DCOM and VB.
Objective - The client calls the MTS Dll on the server
and shows the user some progress indicator as to what
is happening on the server.
So far, I have tried the following -
1) Raising events - no error, but the events are not
fired.
2) Database updates by the MTS DLL and checking for
the same from the client
3) Checking the properties of the MTS DLL by the
client which are updated by the MTS DLL as and when
some task is comleted.
POints 2) and 3) showed the behaviour that even if I
put the call to the DB in a Timer control, then that
timer event is fired only after the excution of the
server component is over.
Sorry for the long story, but just wanted to make
things clear as i understand them.
How do i get over this ??
Anyn and all help is appreciated..
Regards
Shreekar Joshi
