pro_vb thread: ActiveX Document

Message #1 by bmcelhany@h... on Fri, 29 Mar 2002 03:48:55
Hi,

I have created an ActiveX Document using VB6.0 and now need to deploy it
to our company intranet site (all users are running IE 5.5). After running
the Package and Deployment Wizard I now have a .vbd document, a .cab file,
and an .htm file on the web server. The main issue, is that when given a
link to the .vbd file, no one other than myself is able to open the
document. I'm relatively new to this process, so I've got a couple of
general questions:

1 - Do I need to register the ActiveX Document or any of the neccessary
components on the web-server itself? And, if so, how is this accomplished?
2 - Does the directory (on the web-server) need to be configured in any
particular way?
3 - What is the purpose of the html file that is automatically created?
Can I just create a link directly to the .vbd file itself?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Brian
