pro_vb thread: BIG PROBLEM: Package and Deploy

Message #1 by helga@k... on Mon, 24 Jun 2002 16:10:55
Hi Matt

Thanks for the advice - I'm busy downloading the file.

However, even Installshield Express could not solve this problem. The
problem lies in the fact that VB's references references a file that doesn't
actually exist.

I downloaded the now scripting control as adviced by linda but then when i
compile a small app and install it on a non dev. pc it installs untill the
scc...dll file and then says it needs to restart. I does not actually want
to install. If you restart, it keeps on doing this thing.

I'm busy going crazy with this.

Regards
Helga

Helga -

Go to the wise website (www.wise.com) and download their eval copy. It kicks
butt - The stock vb installer is pretty weak.

Subject: [pro_vb] BIG PROBLEM: Package and Deploy

Hi All

I have a huge problem. Quickly worked throught the night last night and
all pleased that I met my deadline - but not to be - the program needs to
be installed!!!!

I have the following three references:

1. Microsoft Scripting Runtime (c:\winnt\system32\sccrun.dll\1)
2. Microsoft ADO Ext. 2.7 for DLL and security
(c:\winnt\system\msadox.dll\1)
3. VB Programmers Essential Toolkit (c:\winnt\system32
\essentialtoolkit.dll\1)

You'll note that it adds a '\1' after the actual dll. This causes a
problem in that the Package and Deployment wizard as well as Installshield
express then state that they can not find this file.

I already removed the reference to these files and then selected browse to
find the correct file, but it keeps on putting this '\1' behind.

When I use the p&d wizard and you select at browse when it can't find the
dependencies, it doesn't allow me to select dll files, only allows
files '1'.

I used all possible brainpower but don't win.

Please, what must I do to fix this?

Regards
Helga
