pro_vb thread: Win XP misbehaving

Message #1 by "Satyajeet Hattangadi" <satyajh@m...> on Mon, 23 Dec 2002 18:38:03 +0530
Hi,
basically I have 2 problems

I have an app that is coded purely in VB6 no external components, uses
windows common controls, the dhtmledit.ocx, webbrowser control, and winsock
ocx.

problem 1) on some machines during installation i get a wininet.dll
access/sharing violation. And inspite of closing all open applications except
explorer.exe. it is unable to copy the file.

problem2) on windows XP the application on start, kicks up the MS office
installer.I am not using any office components.
Its difficult to know what the installer installs as it doesnt state what is
being installed
Has anybody faced a similar problem??

If the dll register error is ignored then app works fine... also in the
office installer probelm , if the instllaer is cancelled . it does not cause
any problems. And the app runs fine..
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated
Thanks
Satya
