Yep. Thanks for your help - as an aside to anyone else who may be using 
component one true db input controls, select a control in the ide, and 
then navigate down to the version attribute in the project explorer. I 
upgraded to 8.x a long time ago, but apparently, it didn't take as the 
control's version was still 6.x. I downloaded the latest version 
(previously I used the CD they sent); reinstalled, checked the version 
again, and I'm now at 8.x and all is well .... for now.....
